Bats and Preservation of Old Building (R)

Post by @ocillacode on May 19, 2016 at 8:22am

Good Morning,

I have a customer who had a daycare in an old school building. It caught on fire and they had to move. The damage is mainly to one side and the roof. We would like to help her preserve as much of the building as possible (it is one of our oldest buildings in town). I walked thru with her and the building still has alot of potential but needs some work. Any ideas on what we could do with that building to save it?

She also has a BAT problem, what do I do to help her get rid of the bats and fix up her building? I'm pretty sure she would be willing to sell the building but how would she market that in it's current condition?  Her funds are limited and both of these seem like a costly job.

Do you have a Historical Society or group that helps with restoration of dated buildings, if so you may want to get help from them. As for bat problem go to georgiabatcontrol.com/ there you may find help for her.

Where you found that portions of the building is salvageable, she could do partial demolitions, by hiring a qualified contractor who has experience in partial demos. Then she could develop a plan of action for rehabilitation.

Thanks. I am not sure if we have Historical Society? I don't think so but will check on this for sure. The damage is to one end of the building only. I will contact her tomorrow and see what she wants to do . Thanks again for your help.
