Dealing With Foreclosed Properties (R)

I am new to the position and trying to figure out the best way to get in touch with owners of vacant homes. I have one property in particular that I have researched with the city's contact list and the county's tax page, both show the same owner. However he has not lived in the property in over a year and says the house has been foreclosed. I can't find any bank or foreclosure information on the home so I can have someone maintain the property . Does anyone have any helpful knowledge on this?

Have you done a Deed Search? If not that may be helpful. I had to do a couple yesterday myself. I always use information I gather from my office records, Tax Assessor Information and Deed information when I can't get compliance with a property.

Yes. I got the information from the tax assessor's website.

You can subscribe to The Georgia Clerks Association and get more up to date information. They would have a more "current" deed or whether or not there was a quit claim on it. Check georgiapublicnotice.com to find out whether or not the foreclosure was advertised.

I know others have better info too. I just haven't needed to use other programs in a long while so they have left my memory :)

Does your jurisdiction use Compliance Connections? (https://connect.complianceconnections.com)

Lots of good ideas in the posts fromย @AngieT and others. www.gsccca.org/ is the Georgia Clerk of Court website. If there is a foreclosure, it should be advertised in the local newspaper (four weeks I think). When the foreclosure is filed, it can be found on the Clerk of Court site.

Also keep in mind, if the people moved they will (most of the time) put in a forwarding address at the local Post Office. Word of mouth is also a good source. Neighbors or long time residents can give valuable information.
