Junk Vehicle Ordinance (R)

We are updating our junk vehicle ordinance and would like to know how the other counties and municipalities handle the removal of the junk vehicle. After a fine is issued, how does the court handle removing the vehicle from the property if the defendant doesn’t comply? I know jail time can be given as well but there has to be a remedy for removal. Does the city or county remove the vehicle? If so, what is the liability for doing so?

Our City Ordinance states we can go in and remove the vehicles. I will have to go back and reread it because we recently made changes too. I can email you the information if you would like.

Before entering private property to remove nuisances created by personal property, you must have a court order. The order must outline right of entry to remedy. The order will outline previous abatement measures taken and note the owner failed to comply. Caution should be used when removing personal property.... We all remember Beau Weathers being shot over junked/abandoned vehicles...
