The City of Sandy Springs is seeking a driven, experienced, and community-focused leader to serve as our next Code Enforcement Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a high-performing team dedicated to protecting public health, safety, property standards, and quality of life in one of Georgia’s premier communities.
As the Code Enforcement Manager, you will oversee the City’s Code Enforcement Division, providing strategic leadership, operational oversight, and hands-on guidance in the enforcement of municipal codes and ordinances related to property maintenance, nuisance abatement, signage, housing, land use, noise control, and environmental compliance.
This role is ideal for a collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values customer service, and can confidently balance enforcement, professionalism, empathy, and problem-solving.
What You’ll Do
Lead & Develop a High-Performing Team
Supervise, mentor, coach, and evaluate Code Enforcement staff and supervisors
Foster a culture centered on professionalism, accountability, responsiveness, and customer service
Coordinate training, scheduling, workload management, and performance development
Provide technical guidance and support on complex enforcement matters
Oversee Citywide Code Enforcement Operations
Direct investigations, inspections, and enforcement activities
Ensure consistent interpretation and enforcement of City ordinances and regulations
Review inspection reports, case files, citations, and enforcement documentation for quality and accuracy
Conduct field observations and assist with escalated or sensitive cases
Build Strong Community Relationships
Work closely with residents, landlords, contractors, business owners, elected officials, and other stakeholders
Resolve complaints, disputes, and complex compliance issues with professionalism and diplomacy
Promote proactive, customer-focused enforcement practices that improve neighborhoods and community standards
Support Legal & Regulatory Compliance
Prepare notices of violation, citations, and court-related documentation
Represent the City in municipal and environmental court proceedings
Recommend ordinance updates, operational improvements, and process enhancements
Respond When the Community Needs You
Participate in after-hours response activities, including noise complaints and emergency situations
Coordinate with Police, dispatch, and City leadership as needed
Assist with special projects, City initiatives, and interdepartmental collaboration efforts
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Fire Technology, Environmental Studies, Law Enforcement, Construction Technology, Public Administration, or a related field
Five (5) years of code enforcement experience, including at least two (2) years of supervisory experience
(Equivalent experience may substitute for degree requirements)
Georgia Association of Code Enforcement Level I & II Certifications
Georgia Soil and Water Level 1B Certification
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field
Eight (8) years of progressively responsible code enforcement experience with significant supervisory or management responsibility
Certified Code Enforcement Administrator and/or ICC Property & Housing Certification
Strong knowledge of municipal codes, inspection practices, legal procedures, and regulatory compliance
Experience developing policies, improving operational procedures, and leading enforcement programs
