I am in Bartow County and we have been receiving an uptick of calls concerning black mold in homes and apartments. I am seeking information on how other jurisdictions handle these complaints to better serve my community.

The City of Grovetown, holds the property owner responsible for having the mold tested and remediated.

The owner is not allowed to occupy or allow others to occupy the premises if it is not maintained in a sanitary and safe condition.

Additionally, we will post placards indicating the premises is unsafe and unfit for occupancy. If the premises is occupied the occupants must vacate the premises until the mold has been tested and remediated.

Our number one priority is to protect our citizens public health, safety, and welfare at all times.
