I am wondering what other cities or counties have in place for fines. In Guyton, all citations go through court. The issue I've run into is that for some of the violations with shorter timeframes (7-14 days) such as overgrown grass/weeds or sanitation, once a citation is given the time for compliance is extended between 14-30 days before the next available court date and the property owner doesn't feel as though it's an issue when they can just wait. I am curious to see what other departments are doing on this front as far as issuing fines for certain violations instead of a court summons.
