2025 ICC Update (January) & Draft Building Safety Month Proclamation

I wish to thank Keith Colquitt for providing updates from ICC. Below is the latest email and communication from Stephen D. Jones,  who represents GA, NC, SC, NJ, & TN as ICC Government Relations Regional Director.  Attached is the January 2025 Update and draft Proclamation for your perusal should you wish to have your community recognize May 2025 as Building Safety Month. 

 

Greetings Chapter Presidents’ and Code Administrators!  Happy New Year!  As we start the year, I want to remind you to feel free to use (and abuse) me wherever I can help!  I realize it is January; however, May is going to be here soon enough.  With that in mind, this year we got an early jump on the Building Safety Month program.  As in years past the Code Council has requested that state entities, boards, chapters, and jurisdictions submit proclamations in support of Building Safety Month.  It should be noted that Ruthie Helms, the Building Official for Greer, SC has had the title for the last couple of years as having submitted the first support proclamation across the Nation!  (GO RUTHIE!!!).  For those states that have exceptionally long lead times for gubernatorial proclamations, I ask that you reach out to your Governor’s office and get this on their radar.  Let me know if you need any help and please get me your meeting dates as soon as you can!  My dance card fills up pretty quick!  Don’t forget to submit your Chapter Reports!  Don’t miss out on your educational voucher and conference registration!
