Obituary for Eric Anthony Minix

Eric Anthony Minix, age 31, of Newnan GA was promoted to his heavenly home on Thursday, January 4, 2024. Eric was born in Covington, GA on June 8, 1992, to Mark Minix and Angela Mitchell. Eric served his community with the Coweta County Sheriff's Office first as a Deputy Sheriff before being promoted to an Investigator. Eric Minix died in the line of duty while doing what he loved.

Eric was a dedicated Deputy and K9 handler, but more importantly, he was a friend to everyone who knew him. Eric graduated from Athens Police Academy in 2014. He worked at the Coweta County Sheriff's Department from March 2014 - April 2016, where he served as Deputy Sheriff. Eric then transferred to the Tyrone Police Department in April 2016 where he was a Patrol Officer for 2 years. He was then promoted to a K9 Handler where he worked with K9 Bruno for the following 3 years, at which time K9 Bruno was retired to Eric.

Eric returned to the Coweta County Sheriff's Office in June 2021, working Patrol with K9 Bruno. Eric was then promoted to an Investigator with the Crime Suppression Unit where he worked with his beloved partner William Faulkner. K9 Bruno was officially retired from the force and Eric began working with his new K9 Partner, Robbi.

Eric was a beloved husband to Trina and a wonderful father to three beautiful girls. Eric and Trina's family attended Crossroads Church in Sharpsburg, GA where they grew their faith in Christ. When not at work, Eric enjoyed going to the park with all his girls and spending time with his family. Eric was an avid gamer who enjoyed riding his motorcycle and fishing. He was an all-around amazing man who loved his family more than anything.

The visitation is Sunday evening, January 7, 2024, between 4:00-6:00 pm at Crossroads Church 3260 GA-16, Sharpsburg, GA 30277. The funeral is on Monday, January 8, 2024, at 11:00 am at Crossroads Church 3260 GA-16, Sharpsburg, GA 30277 with Frank Mercer (Chaplain) officiating. Eric will be cremated and remain with his family. The family is accepting flowers sent to the funeral home at 38 Jackson Street, Newnan, GA 30263, and any donations can be made to the Georgia Police K9 Foundation at www.GApolicek9foundation.org or Concerns of Police Survivors at Gacops.org.

GOD bless the men and women who serve our nation in whatever capacity they deem appropriate.

Please remember them and their families in prayer as they serve and afterwards.

Remember the family members, inclusive of spouses, precious children, and all those that support and endure the times away and hardships that accompany the absence or loss of a loved one or friend.

Thanks to all who serve. May we always cherish their service and memory!
