Who has a County or Municipal Ordinance that would cover damage to, tampering with, or modifying County or Municipal Roadways (and ROW), aside from the catch all State law (Interference with government property 16-7-24)?ย We are currently having issues with irrigation systems routinely flooding unimproved county roads, to the point of wash-outs.ย We have also had past issues of people running irrigation piping, and electrical wiring through our culverts under the roadway.ย We even had one occasion where a backhoe was used on a weekend to trench in a line to bury an irrigation pipe across a county road.ย This poses a problem when the Road Department cuts the ditches, and the unauthorized pipe or wire is snagged by the machine.ย I doubt my County Administrator is looking to go all-in on with restrictions on signage (i.e. advertisement or political), or even requiring permits for buried utilities on the ROW by legitimate companies, but we do need something to protect our local roads.ย Please send me, or direct me to, what you have. ecce@earlycounty.org
