How to add fees to tax bills on abandoned properties.

  • Member

We have several abandoned properties and I know I have heard folks at GACE conference say that their City or County adds maintenance fees for properties to the tax bills due each year. Does anyone have information on the process or a contact for info?

City of Albany, has a Blight Tax ordinance. However we do not have anything that allows for adding maintenance fees. Unless we pursueย  placing liens on the properties.

I too would be interested to hear how some jurisdiction's are able to add fees for maintenance.

Cobb County has a blight tax as well as South Fulton I believe. Reach out to someone at Cobb Countyย and S. Fulton or search municode.ย
