How does your jurisdiction handle standing trees on private property?

I'm looking for feedback on how your jurisdiction handles standing trees on private property.ย  Does your ordinance provide for code enforcement to issueย violations or do you view it as a civil matter?

Thank you.

  • Meaning "dead" standing trees.ย  We get complaints all the time about dead trees on private property.ย  Seems like most jurisdictions handle it as a civil matter. Thank you.

Civil matter. Advise the concerned/aggrieved party to mail certified notice to owner of property where tree in question is located. Usually this type of official communication will prompt voluntary action by the owner of the tree in question.
